Eugene Warburg was born in New Orleans in 1825 to a Jewish father and a Caribbean mother. Warburg began as a tomb carver when he took over the family business with his brother, but is most known as a sculptor.

His education and apprenticeship allowed for him to also study as a fine arts sculptor in Europe under Neoclassical artists. Warburg had four pieces admitted into the Paris Salon in 1855.

Eugene Warburg’s style remained Neoclassical with his numerous sculptures. The pieces presented realistic views and honest portrayals of the subjects.
